JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for reviewing rejections according to the rejection posted. Verify coding following Team Health coding criteria.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains QA standards of 95% or greater accuracy.
  • Maintains required set production for ETM
  • Works ETM daily invoices to maintain view age 5 days or less
  • Works claim edits daily
  • Report Serco diagnosis and coding errors
  • Report coding errors to Supervisor
  • Report payer problem to Coding Appeals Supervisor or Coding Manager (Educational)
  • Works with other department to resolve Coding Rejections
  • Assist the Coding Appeals Supervisor and/or Coding Manager (Educational) with any duties that need to be completed
  • Performs other duties and assignments as requested

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent and billing related field required
  • Proficiency in ICD-9 and ICD-10 diagnostic coding and CPT-4 procedural coding required
  • 2-3 years in ED Coding experience preferred
  • 2-3 years Coding Appeals experience preferred
  • CPC or RHIT certified preferred
  • Advanced communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced proficiency Excel

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

 

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

This job will be performed in a well-lighted and well-vented environment. Work is oriented around good visual skills. Eye fatigue may be encountered as extended amount of time is spent in front of computer display terminal.

 

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week. Overtime may be required and can be mandated by Management.
