QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 6 months previous medical billing experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Excellent follow-up skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Computer literate
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None
PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting
- Occasional standing/bending
- Occasional lifting/carrying (20lbs or less)
- Moderate stress
- Prolonged sitting
- Prolonged work on a PC/computer
- Prolonged telephone work
This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:
Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for processing insurance and patient payments for their assigned regions either manually or electronically. The position is responsible for balancing batches against daily deposits and maintaining daily production reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing payments for insurance companies and patients either electronically or manually within established timeframe.
- Posting payment batches including denials within established timeframe and balancing batches against daily deposits.
- Provide supporting documentation for each payment transaction through submission of the daily control number report and daily production log for all batches (manual and electronic).
- Maintains knowledge of all policy and procedures.
- Participates in unit progress meetings.
- Turns to Supervisor for unusual circumstances.
- Performs any and all duties as directed by management.
