JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Eligibility & Registration Supervisor has the overall responsibility for management of the Eligibility and Registration Departments. The Supervisor is directly responsible for day-to-day activities in the Eligibility and Registration departments, assuring that work is handled in an efficient and effective manner. Staffing, hiring, disciplinary actions, training, and assurance of conformance to policies by assigned personnel are fundamental to the position. The Supervisor has accountability for quality assurance functions within the assigned area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and monitor both the Eligibility and Registration Departments
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance policies, including periodic random review of audits performed by Seniors, maintaining files of each review
  • Responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining adherence to all Eligibility and Registration policies including distribution of all policies as well as obtaining signed acknowledgements
  • Monitor weekly production reports to ensure production standards are met and performance improvement guidelines are followed
  • Monitor daily workflow to ensure adherence to target dates and month end closing schedules, adjusting schedules and mandating overtime as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Partner with VBS to ensure mapping changes are timely
  • Initiate TES/Claim edit requests, as business needs arise
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly production and QA reports are compiled for incentive distribution
  • Interview applicants for potential employment
  • Monitor personnel issues to ensure a harmonious work environment
  • Prepare yearly performance evaluations for each employee providing feedback and goals to enable employee growth
  • Prepare monthly report outlining department status

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 - 5 years previous supervisory/management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physician billing and healthcare reimbursement
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Personal computer skills, experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Minimum High School diploma. BS or BA preferred or equivalent of management/supervisory experience in physician billing related field
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in physician billing or admitting department

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Eligibility and Registration Representative teams, plus Sr. Representatives

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • General office environment
  • Job is performed in a well-lighted, climate-controlled modern office setting
  • Prolonged sitting at a workstation using a computer
  • Moderate phone use
  • Moderate bending and standing
  • Moderate stress level

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
