Orthopedic Medical Assistant/X-Ray Tech PT, On-Site

This is an on-site role located in New Bern, NC.

An active ARRT X-Ray Certification is required.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direction of provider(s), assist with patient care, assessment and procedures which include administering routine full scope x-ray exams according to the best practices and clinic policies and procedures. Care for the actual and potential healthcare problems related to musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.
  • Facilitate efficient flow of patients through the clinic. Serve as a critical link between the providers and patients by managing patient phone calls and communicating results of testing, x-rays, surgery schedules, procedures,
  • Provide patient education regarding their condition. Facilitate a professional, personable and efficient atmosphere for the
  • Collaborate with primary care providers in the treatment and well-being of all

  • Review lab results and process information to appropriate
  • Document patient care, procedures and patient assessments in the medical record and other clinic Obtain pre-certifications when necessary.
  • Complete patient care assignments based on severity of illness, scope of professional practice and individual strengths and
  • Maintain neat and clean patient exam rooms and work areas; follows infection control policies and procedures in cleaning equipment and all areas of the
  • Perform X-ray exams and manage related duties:
  • o Position patient under X-Ray machine, adjust immobilization devices, and provide appropriate radiation protection.
  • o Maintain appropriate documentation for services rendered, radiological film files and storage, pull X-Rays as required for referrals and/or copying.
  • o Make minor adjustments to equipment and trouble shoot issues as they arise.
  • o Perform radiographic quality control tests as well as logs results in correct areas in a timely manner.
  • Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement
  • If site applicable- Maintain orderly sample drug supply room and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained on dispensing of sample
  • Work as a team with other members of the clinic to ensure the highest quality of care at all times.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, patients, and providers so that productivity and positive employee relations are
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with clinic
  • Other duties as required and assigned by the Providers or Operations Team. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability

EDUCATION

High School Diploma required. Must be a Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiology and be a certified LST or ARRT registered tech in the corresponding state. Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years experience assisting with clinical duties. Orthopedic experience preferred, med/surg experience also accepted. At least 2 years experience in physician clinic setting preferred.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

Intermediate computer skills required. Must have ability to appropriately handle confidential information. Must be knowledgeable in general surgery practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing a clinic setting. Must have excellent professional verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of hazardous materials used in the clinic required. Knowledge of effective body mechanics to prevent injury required. Must have ability to work in new situations, grasp new ideas and adapt to new procedures. Must have ability to evaluate available data and come to sound conclusions.
