Sr. Systems Engineer

OVERVIEW:
This role will focus on designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure solutions, while ensuring high availability, security, and performance across multiple hardware and software platforms.The Senior System Engineer will be experienced in the design, implementation, and maintenance of both modern and legacy infrastructure solutions. Focused on deploying resilient, scalable, and secure services utilizing knowledge of enterprise standards and industry best practices. Confident in overseeing operations, designing, implementing, and updating automation, and driving efficiency through collaboration across organizational teams.
This position supports the Enterprise Architecture, Network Engineering, Information Security, Database Administration, Applications Development and Service Desk teams for enterprise systems design, configuration, implementation and maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administration of existing multi-site virtualization environment
  • Planning and design of future virtualized or converged computing environments, including hypervisor and server-less solutions
  • Operate within private, hybrid, and public cloud environments
  • Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related components adhere to organizational values
  • Assists various departments with technical requirements in the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance phases of a TeamHealth project
  • Implementation of scripted and non-scripted automation within centralized orchestration solutions
  • Technical research and personal development to encourage innovation within the infrastructure

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Virtualization technology – VMware vSphere suite, Citrix DaaS, familiarity with other private and public cloud platform technologies
  • Microsoft Experience - Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SQL, .NET Framework, .NET Core, WinRM
  • Enterprise Storage – ISCSI, SAN, NAS, DAS and FC/FCoE
  • Enterprise Networking – Zero-Trust Segmentation, Software Defined Networks (SDN), Routing, Switching, Fabric technologies, Internet Proxies and Reverse Proxies, VPN, Operating System Firewalls, Network Firewalls
  • Operating Systems – Windows Server, RHEL
  • Enterprise Security and Identity – Configuration Management, Audit Control Documentation, Vulnerability Remediation, TLS, SSH, IAM, PIM, MFA, SAML
  • Enterprise Monitoring Solutions such as Solarwinds, PRTG, Grafana, New Relic, SCOM
  • Data Center – Experience with enterprise equipment power and cooling requirements, Cabling and Rack/Stack experience
  • Software Development – Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), version control systems (VCS), Application Programming Interfaces (API) and usage of Integrated Development Environments (IDE)

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Converged Systems – Cisco UCS
  • Server-less solutions – VMware Tanzu, Docker, Docker Compose, Docker Swarm, Elastic Container Service (ECS), Kubernetes, OpenShift, Azure Functions, AWS Lambda
  • Web Hosting Environments - IIS, Apache, Apache Tomcat
  • Database Environments – Oracle, Cache, MySQL, AWS RDS, Azure SQL
  • Microsoft Services – Exchange, MECM
  • Automation – PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation
  • Backup Services - Commvault
  • Cloud – AWS and Azure in hybrid-cloud implementations
  • Familiarity or experience with DevOps methodologies such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), self-healing remediation/Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science or at least five years of experience maintaining infrastructure and clients in an enterprise IT environment
  • Microsoft certifications desired
  • Excellent problem solving skills, criticial thinking and technical skills to help build or determine solutions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction or supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an orientation towards professionalism and customer service
  • Possess a high aptitude for learning with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
  • Experience in coordinating simultaneous assignments, priorities, and project deadlines while balancing personal work schedule
