Radiologic Technologist/LMRT Children's Urgent Care- Blount

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Radiology Tech performs a variety of duties to accommodate and support Davis Urgent Care Clinical staff in the provision of quality professional patient care. Performs radiologic procedures in a timely and accurate manner adhering to regulatory and all principles of radiation requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represents Blount Urgent Care by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of patient care activities including assisting with medical team, cross training with clinical and triage areas, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, entering data into PACS system, maintaining ability to transfer image to viewing monitor in nursing station, and recording data as necessary within the Allscripts EMR.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment assisting clinicians where appropriate
  • Prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition; set up, clean and disinfect examination rooms; monitor and ensure appropriate inventory of medical supplies in rooms; replenish as required.
  • Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer service, infection control, safety, and workers compensation guidelines and other policies as set forth.
  • Works as a member of a cross functional team which provides not only radiologic but also intaking, lab testing, and clerical duties including cleaning / disinfecting exam rooms, scanning, and indexing as necessary.
  • Translates providers orders into appropriate x-ray procedures
  • Prepares and positions patient correctly for each radiologic examination.
  • Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs for designated portions of the body utilizing ALARA.
  • Selects, identifies and exposes films for digital viewing
  • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area ensuring the patient radiology room is kept neat and clean and stocked with supplies
  • Utilizes radiology computer PACS system to enter data and appropriate technical factors.
  • When available, clean and disinfect examination rooms; monitor and ensure appropriate inventory of medical supplies in examination rooms; replenish as required
  • Escort and/or transport patients to examination room and other clinic locations.
  • Contributes to patient care through patient and family education, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at EPN. Refers patients to proper resources for Urgent Care policies such as billing support.
  • Performs various laboratory testing, daily controls and additional duties as needed.
  • Participate in development and implementation of general policies and procedures to provide for the physical and emotional comfort and safety of patients.
  • Maintains competence through continuing education and in-service training.
  • Attendance and being on time, ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job requirement.
  • Other duties as assigned and requested.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiology Technology with at least two (2) years clinical experience in radiology
  • ARRT registered and TN State license in Radiologic Technology
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Patient assessment skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform patient intake and document problems appropriately, seeking guidance as needed
  • High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills to determine needs, provide information, instruct, and provide emotional support
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment including fax and copy machines, multi-line phone system, and personal computer
  • Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Ability to work independently yet in conjunction with a team.

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Job performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting.
  • Almost continuous noise inherent to the scanning equipment.
  • Moderate physical effort, including assistance to the disabled patient in transfers to and from wheelchairs, exam tables, bathroom etc.
  • May be required to assist in lifting patients more than one-hundred (100) pounds
  • Associated health risks related to patient exposure including body fluids and needles
  • Possible exposure to radiation related to x-ray procedures
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels
  • Occasional standing/bending
  • Prolonged standing periods

This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
