Director Revenue Cycle Applications

OVERVIEW:

The position involves overseeing departmental staff and includes responsibilities for application management analysis and support for Revenue Cycle billing applications. The Director of Applications is responsible for these key areas: IDX Maintenance, OnBase Billing Center Workflows, IDX Modules including ETM, TES, BAR and Anesthesia, as well as project management and hardware support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages department staff by providing supervision, prioritization of projects, and suggestions for project resolution
  • Oversight of IDX Maintenance which includes all data dictionaries that supports the billing process. This includes fee schedules, provider and facility information and payer information needed for billing
  • Oversight of ETM Application Support for all aspects of Accounts Receivables follow-up, including rejections, claim edits, and ancillary billing processes like Arbitration and Customer Support
  • Oversight of OnBase application enhancements and support for Billing Center workflows
  • Oversight of all system support issues and resolution including support of IDX modules such as Anesthesia, TES, and BAR
  • Works with IDX (software vendor), KAV, Waystar and consultants to ensure the accurate and timely resolution of systems support issues.
  • Manages large scale applications related projects, such as applications upgrades
  • Is responsible for hardware maintenance and support for application related Windows servers (patches, upgrades, etc.)
  • Develops policies and procedures for information system application management
  • Performs research and systems analysis of problems reported by the billing operations centers and recommends solutions that support systems integrity
  • Supports and promotes effective communication and interaction with the programming staff and departmental staff to ensure the efficient resolution of requests and projects

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Understands the duties and responsibilities of the position
  • The Director of Applications must have the necessary skills to manage the department staff in a professional, supportive, and effective manner.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to understand the IDX Billing Software system including BAR, DBMS, ETM, Security and AES
  • Has an extensive background in Medical Billing; an understanding of medical reimbursement, payments, systems; ability to understand and think logically, experience working with the IDX billing and accounts receivable system and associated sub-systems
  • The Director of Applications must have very good analytical skills, the ability to examine data and information, interpret the results and make relevant decisions
  • The Director of Applications must have the ability to effectively communicate both written and orally
  • The Director of Applications shall consistently demonstrate the ability to interrelate, teach and convey information to the staff

Education:

An undergraduate degree in information systems is desired. Sufficient work experience will be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree.

Experience:

The Director of Applications should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience working with healthcare information systems and from 5 to 8 years of experience with healthcare billing practices and management.
