Sr. Data Analyst – Healthcare Analytics, Staffing & Compensation

Summary:
TeamHealth is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Data Analyst to join our team, focusing on physician and advanced practice provider staffing, compensation structure design, and market compensation analysis. This role will involve collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to physician staffing, compensation structures, and industry compensation benchmarks. The Sr. Data Analyst will report to the Vice President of Talent Acquisition and work closely and in conjunction with business operational teams, finance, and HR to provide insights that support informed decision-making, optimize staffing efficiency, and ensure fair and competitive compensation models that align with market trends and internal objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection & Management:
    • Compile, audit, evaluate, and maintain data from various internal systems (HR, finance, staffing databases) related to physician compensation, staffing levels, and performance metrics
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used for analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes
  • Reporting & Visualization:
    • Create and present regular reports on staffing and compensation metrics, including performance, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership
    • Develop dashboards and visualizations to help leadership and management make data-driven decisions related to staffing and compensation
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify inefficiencies in staffing models and compensation processes and propose actionable recommendations to enhance overall performance and cost-effectiveness
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting methods to improve overall efficiency
  • Staffing Analysis:
    • Assess physician staffing levels, workload distribution, and scheduling patterns to optimize workforce allocation and reduce gaps in coverage and recruitment needs
    • Collaborate with staffing teams to provide insights into workforce needs and recommend adjustments based on data-driven analysis and predictive analytics
    • Monitor and analyze physician turnover, retention rates, recruitment costs, and workload distribution to improve staffing efficiency
  • Market Compensation Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive market compensation analysis by benchmarking physician salaries, incentives, and benefits against industry standards, regional averages, and competitor data
    • Analyze trends in physician compensation across various specialties, roles, and geographic locations to ensure our organization remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent
    • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on market trends and internal compensation practices, adjusting compensation strategies as needed
  • Compensation Analysis
    • Analyze compensation trends, salary structures, and benefits packages for physicians, ensuring they are competitive and in line with industry standards
    • Evaluate pay disparities, incentive structures, and performance-based compensation to recommend adjustments or improvements
    • Assist with the development and maintenance of compensation models for various physician specialties and roles
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis:
    • Perform special projects or ad-hoc analyses related to physician compensation, staffing, and workforce optimization as requested by leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:


Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
      Master’s degree in a related field is a plus
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare, physician staffing, or compensation-related roles
    • Experience with compensation analysis, workforce optimization, and human resources analytics is highly preferred
    • Strong understanding of physician compensation models, including base salaries, incentive structures, RVU, and performance-based compensation
  • Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as BrassRing, Workday, Excel, SQL, Smartsheet, Oracle Essbase, or statistical software
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings in a clear, actionable format
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
    • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, physician compensation models, and staffing best practices is a plus
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
    • High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with physician compensation benchmarks and regulatory requirements (e.g., FLSA, Stark Law, Employment Law, etc.).
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting.
