JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

The Registration/Production Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Patient Registration, Eligibility, Clerical Support and Chart Swap teams. The Manager is directly responsible for daily workflow, ensuring that work is handled in an efficient and effective manner and also for the ensuring production and quality standards are met. Staffing, hiring, disciplinary action, training, and enforcing established policies are fundamental to the position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the day-to-day performance of the Patient Registration, Eligibility, Clerical Support, and Chart Swap teams through direct supervision of the Registration/Eligibility Supervisor, Clerical Supervisor, and Staff in other areas. This includes planning, organizing, directing and monitoring assigned areas
  • Collaborates with the Supervisors to interview and hire, train, lead, motivate, and complete employee performance appraisals, salary adjustments and disciplinary actions
  • Plans, organizes, and monitors front-end workflow for the Akron Billing Center to ensure all batches have been processed in time for the month-end close
  • Serves as the driving force for audits by ensuring audits are provided timely. This includes compliance, internal auditors and Carrier audits
  • Maintains and updates Akron Billing Center policies and procedures as indicated. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures
  • Monitors production standards to ensure that productive goals are achieved
  • Maintains current technical competence in reports used to monitor work flow
  • Develops long-range and short-range goals and objectives
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and monitors department performance in adhering to this budget
  • Coordinates communication to assigned staff regarding productivity, quality, policies and procedures, and other pertinent information from HCFS Billing Operations
  • Interfaces with all levels of management in the Akron Billing Center, other Billing Centers, Divisions and Corporate to problem solve and support the investigation and resolutions of issues and problems
  • Participates as a member of the Akron Billing Center Management team
  • Special projects/assignments as directed by the Assistant Vice President

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive knowledge of physician billing and reimbursement policies and governmental regulatory requirements
  • 3+ years of previous supervisory/management experience
  • 3+ years of experience in physician billing management
  • Extensive organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills required
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Computer literate
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of physician billing and reimbursement policies and governmental regulatory requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Patient Registration/Eligibility, Clerical Support and Chart Swap Departments.

PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Set in a pleasant, high-volume, fast-paced office environment. Ability to meet closing deadlines and production standards is required. Position involves extensive computer use.

The job requires working over 40 hours frequently.
