Job Requirements of National Medical Director - Strategic Accounts - CHS:
EducationMaster's degree in Business, Hospital Administration, Organizational Management or related field required
Experience
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of leadership experience leading clinicians
- A regional and/or national reputation in quality outcomes; credibility as a clinician with experience in clinical practice for an extended period following training.
- Experience and knowledge in evidence-based medicine, quality improvement methodology, CMS and pay-for-performance metrics and clinical information technology and implementation for both emergency medicine and hospital medicine
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment of creating a “culture of quality” in the organization as well as success in engaging and collaborating with clinicians.
- Possesses good grasp of clinical workflow in both inpatient and outpatient setting with an interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurement.
- Understands major trends in healthcare and managed care and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools.
- A track record which points to the capability to operate effectively and flexibly in an evolving organizational model where the executive will need to sponsor initiatives in leading change, in effectively managing change, and in working within a highly skilled senior executive team.
- A highly self-motivated, highly energetic executive with an internal sense of direction that demonstrates initiative and achieves results within a team environment.
- A strong business, planning, communication and financial skill set with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong demonstrated transformational physician leadership skills (inspiring, problem solving, communication across multiple organizations, executing) - Demonstrated commitment to patient care improvement, physician development, and patient safety.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely and collaboratively with System Sr. VPO (dyad partner)
- Works closely with the Business Development team, Group Leadership and other key TeamHealth personnel to ensure productive, professional relationships are maintained with clients.
- Works to create and maintain good financial stewardship for the client through management of productivity, innovative staffing, limited premium labor, and any other modalities necessary.
- Be an advocate for innovations that would be a benefit to both the client and TeamHealth, (i.e. Smart ribbon, Array, ATP, ambient AI, etc.).
- Develops trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs and ensure prompt resolution, while coordinating the involvement of internal clinical resources.
- Works closely with health system leadership at multiple level to ensure two-way communication and proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs and objectives on an ongoing basis.
- Clearly communicates the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops new business with existing clients and/or identifies areas of improvement.
- Forecasts and tracks key account metrics (i.e. quarterly results and annual forecasts).
- Presents reports on the status of accounts and provides recommendations and guidance to ensure company growth.
- Collaborates with Business Development team to identify and grow opportunities.
- Assists with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders for business development opportunities.
- Demonstrate a high-level involvement with all new startups.
- Propagates clinical best practices across the customer’s entire contract footprint.
- Works to ensure high client survey participation and net promoter scores.
- Oversight, professional development, and rounding on Regional Medical Directors and System Medical Directors,
- Assistance with recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new RMD’s and SMD’s
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
