Job Requirements of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Rural Medicine:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Competent with IV skills for patient population
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacological therapies
- High degree of planning, judgement, problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to determine needs, provide information, instruct, and provide emotional support to patients
- Ability to perform patient intake and document problems appropriately
- Ability to identify critical illness and act accordingly based on clinical protocol
- Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to perform detail-oriented work
- Ability to work independently yet in conjunction with a team
- Ability to adapt to a changing and growing atmosphere
- Ability to work in fast-paced, demanding patient care environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure when handling challenging clients/stressful situations
- Promote positive department morale through effective teamwork
- Bilingual skills a plus
- Ability to work and travel to multiple locations if needed.
PHYSICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Job performed in a well-lighted, modern medical setting
- Potential exposure to illness/disease
- Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals/materials
- Occasional travel locally
- Occasional lifting/carrying (20 pounds or less)
- Moderate to high stress level
- Prolonged sitting/standing/bending
- Moderate computer/PC work/telephone use
This position may require manual dexterity and/or frequent use of the computer, telephone, 10-key, calculator, office machines (copier, scanner, fax) and/or the ability to perform repetitive motions and/or meet production standards to comply with the essential functions. Also, may require physical and/or mental stamina to work overtime, additional hours beyond a regular schedule and/or more than five days per week.
